Kinja'd!!!

Had my first migraine headache since April, and the shortest one yet at 2 hours. I conquered this one better than I have in the past. The pain is still a nuisance, but I survived as usual!!

How’s Oppo doing today? :)

Rock on! Migraines are a bitch. What triggered relief? Best thing I’ve found that helps is standing in a shower as hot as you can take it. I swear it helps open up the blood vessels and the throbing in my temples subside somewhat.

What do you do for migraines? I usually go for Excedrin migraine/paracetemol, and sit in the shower with the lights off until I think I can move without making it worse. I’ll also threaten to kill anyone that makes noise during those times lol.

Good for you. I’ve been struggling with daily migraine for about three years. Dozens of prescriptions and five neurologists after it all started and I have made zero progress. I have forgotten what it’s like not to have a headache. Chronic pain really messes with your mind, I’ve always been a happy kind of guy and I have sunk into a crippling depression. I’m glad to see a migraine sufferer who found some relief. Gives me a little hope. I wouldn’t wish a migraine on my worst enemy.

That’s the only relief that works for me to date. Hottest showers directly on my face. I need more effective ways though. Perhaps a steamed rag on the face can help.

I’ve been dealing with them on and off since 5th grade, or roughly 10-11 years now. No prescription or medicine or the one neurologist have given me any effective solution yet. I’ve depression and anxiety as well, so you’re not alone. I believe there’ll be a solution one day.

Migraines are something I’d never wish upon anyone, no matter the reason.

I do all those things, but it only gets me so far. I can’t stand in a steaming hot shower for 2 hours straight, and the Excedrin Migraine only does so much to reduce the pain, which still isn’t enough for me.

Tru dat. I wouldn’t wish a migraine on Donald Trump. Nobody deserves to go through it. If I ever go nearly 6 months without a migraine, I’ll start going to church.

Honestly, you are probably better off not going to doctors for migraine. The neurologists I’ve seen have all just thrown different drugs at it, they really have no idea what’s going on. My current neurologist was candid with me and told me that. They just prescribe anti-depressants or anti-seizure medication or whatever which also relieve migraine for some people. Nobody really understands the mechanics behind it, so nobody really understands how drugs can help. I spent 6 months in a clinical trial that was touted as a “magic bullet” for migraines. It was a once-a-month injection migraine-specific treatment. 9/10 people my neurologist saw were practically cured. It had zero effect on me, which was a big bummer.

In 10-20 years I think we’ll have it figured out. It’s so connected to peoples’ stress levels, and modern life is only getting more stressful, so the money for the necessary research is coming.
